Dear Jenny you have publicly stated that you would be able to live on the current Newstart allowance of $246 a week.  We, on behalf of every Australian in receipt of Newstart, challenge you to do just that for one month.  We thought to make it a three-month challenge but realize that you will surely get the message after a month.  We challenge you to put the money where your mouth is and show us all how well you can survive on $246 a week, bearing in mind that you will have to continue meeting your financial obligations from this $246 a week restriction. This challenge will not of course prevent you from accessing the fine soup kitchens of any charitable organization, or from obtaining loans from pawnshops or Centrelink in order to meet the rising costs of life.

We are not so heartless as to issue you with a challenge that does not allow you the same recourse of the average Australian who do actually scratch out a meager existence on $246 a week.   

If you choose not to accept this reasonable request, and it is as reasonable as your claim that you can live on $246 a week; people will conclude that your comments are just empty rhetoric.  Therefore, we ask that you prove them and us wrong by living on Newstart for one month.
